I got up at 6AM this morning to do some final stuffing of my suitcase, shower, and load the bus. I was trying to take in the last bit of Australian air I could and all the students and I kept running around hugging each other. We were all going to miss each other and this place---I think it is the hardest to leave Lake Ainsworth because we have spent so much time here and has become our new home. As we all boarded the bus, we said our good byes to Lyn, Yvonne, and the Avilas and were on our way to Brisbane. The drive took about 2 hours, I was exhausted so I slept most of the ride so we were there in no time.
We all had to get trolleys to carry all our suitcases and head up to check-in. Once through security, we sat at our gate, got some lunch, and relaxed a little. Before we knew it, it was time to board. The flight went very smoothly--I watched "The Kids Are All-Right" and some music, had lunch served----grilled eggplant, rice and peas, salad and bean compote, and a granola bar, and some orange mix which was really really spicy---
It got a little bit chilly after arriving in New Zealand. It was very cloudy and overcast in New Zealand. Landing I saw lots of water and huge lands of green---fields and field of bushes, trees, and grass!
In the airport, some of the students and I got storage for our big suitcases for the week so we repacked our little suitcases and stored the others.
I stayed with Alyssa, Jen, Rory, Colin C, Abby that night in the airport where we decided on where we wanted to go and what we wanted to do for the next 6 days as we explored the Northern followed by the Southern Island. Unfortunately I had to finish a school paper, I was exhausted and headed to bed around midnight. I slept on long cushioned benches right next to the McDonald's. Cant wait to explore tomorrow morning!
