This morning I got up at 7:30, repacked my things, and headed down to the same breakfast we had yesterday----cereal, pears, and toast! All the students were slowly waking up and coming down to breakfast a few at a time--everyone seemed a little lethargic today (a little too much alcohol and partying the night before). Some were still a little drunk, some hungover, and most exhausted! We left the hotel at 9AM and headed off to the Lifestyle Markets in the city. The sun was shinning and it was going to be a gorgeous day. These markets were right by the river and had tons of food, jewelry, clothing, shoes, and sweets! I got some beautiful earrings for my sisters and my friends! I walked up and down all the tents and before I knew it, it was time to get back on the bus and head to the Gold Coast.
About an hour later, the bus was pulling into Surfers Paradise which is another name for the Gold Coast. Anthony, the bus driver, drove us to see the Main beach which was filled with tons of people, surfers, and children. I was crawling to get outside in the sun! The first place we went to was Pacific Fair to grab some lunch and shop a bit. I packed a pb and j so I had that a chicken teriyaki sushi roll! Mmmm delicious! I also got an vanilla ice cream from Hungry Jacks. Again those 50 cent scoops are something I can't pass up and neither could the students I was with!
I was ready to head outside after this, and none of us really wanted to shop, so we all walked to Surfers Paradise, about 15 minute walk down the road. The beach was very relaxing, the sand so soft, and I just laid my head down for about an hour. It was still sunny and at the beach, there was a nice gentle breeze to stay cool too! Some of the other students met us there, but pretty soon it was time again to head back to the bus. This time it was time to go to Lennox. We got on the bus and about 2 hours later, we all arrived at the cabins. What a weekend! It felt good, as usual, to get back to the cabins and sleep in my own bed!
It was time to unpack, check the emails, and then grab dinner for family dinner--it was pizza night so I ran with the Professor to Domino's and brought back 21 pizzas for the group! The pizza sizes are very small here--a typical medium is a large here and the biggest they serve so when feeding this many students, we needs lots and lots of pizza! After feeding my face, it was time to finish packing and then go to bed!
I enjoyed this weekend and had a great time in Brisbane and the Gold Coast. I liked Brisbane, but the city was not easy to navigate compared to Melbourne or Sydney.Brisbane had many shops and delicious restaurants. I enjoyed the little town area and the markets, wish I could have got into the club, however, I prefer Melbourne more so than Brisbane.
Very happy to be resting in my own bed tonight and getting some real sleep!
