I woke this morning to warmth and sunshine---I love this place!! It is already over 80-degrees and its 8:30AM! It will be a hot one! Today I am heading to Byron Bay--a little town about a half hour away. It has lots of markets, shops, souvenirs, bars, restaurants. I can't wait to do a little shopping!!
I did tons of walking and shopping today!! I got some souvenirs for friends and family and enjoyed some subway for lunch! I also met some American students who were also studying abroad in Australia and staying by Lake I was for the weekend---it felt like home to hear someone without an Aussie accent!
Abby, Colin, and I walked around the town together and took the bus back to our cabins. I had a salad with a few chicken tenders on it!! Mmm and a yogurt popsicle!!
I started a volleyball game and then went to the pub--its called Lennox Head Hotel bar---and we met the other American students I met today in town there. Americans are taking over the pub--uh oh! We all met there and chatted for a little while before hitting the dance floor! The opening band was a great and there seemed to be a much younger crowd tonight at the pub. The main band was "One Step Closer" and they were phenomenal----tonight was the best pub night so far. He made shout outs to Ball State and had two of our students (Carlo and Chelsea) join as singers. They played lots of American songs with a bebop twist--He even played Justin Bieber, Backstreet Boys, Kings of Leon, Prince...it was awesome! The band even did a dance circle, however, only Carlo and I would enter it! It was a great night. The band wrapped up at 1AM, but came back to play just one more song which was a great ending. Then I got on my bike (we ride bikes down to the pub to make it easier though for some students this just makes it more of a challenge) and headed back to my cabin--what a great night!
