Went to bed at 1 and woke up at 7--so a little tired but went off to breakfast. Had some scrambled eggs this morning, and toast and peaches again. Today, a cute old lady named Val would be leading us around on a historical tour of the town. Then we packed up the bus and went off to Tenterfield Station-this was a house in the process of being preserved with lots of antiques. We walked around the house, looking at the old rooms and antiques.
While driving along we saw the largest cork tree, a few town churches, schools, and then made it to the School of Arts. We sat in the theater to learn about the evolution of the building and about Henry Parkes (started the movement for the Federation of Australia). We continued on to meet the Mayor of Tenterfield who welcomed us to the town and share a bit more history of the town.
Then we were off to Tenterfield Saddlery which was were saddles were made and gossip around town was shared. We looked around for a bit and then were off to the Centenary Cottage form more antiques of Tenterfield. The last place we went to was Tenterfield Railway Museum where we could see the old trains of New South Wales.
Once we got back to the motel it was lunch time so we grabbed some apples and sandwiches and then were off back to Lennox Head. It never felt so good to see the beach again and be back in my cabin. Home sweet home---now time for some homework and bed!
