Got up at 6:30AM and went to breakfast at the little dining cabin. There was cereal, bacon, over-easy eggs, peaches, and toast. My stomach is actually not feeling so great the last couple days from the food, I hope it gets better. After breakfast, it was time to board the bus for our new adventures today.
The first stop was a Sapphire Fossicking yard about 2.5 hours away. We learned the three steps in finding sapphires and other jems within dirt. The first step was to gather dirt in a bucket from a huge pile and sift out the large rocks and dirt masses. Then step two was to pour an amount in a smaller sifter and head to the water basin to wash the smaller rocks. This step included rocking the rocks/gems/dirt for about 5 min---getting as much dirt of as possible. The last step was taking the somewhat clean rocks/gems to a big barrel and dumping them out to search through them. I had to get a tweezers and pick out the gems I could find. I only found some low-grade sapphires and a couple quartz. Nothing worth millions...darn it! The real gems reflect the light but I think some of the other students found a couple small ones. It was a fun experience--got a little dirty and wet, but a new experience!
Then we were off to Pioneer Village for a BBQ lunch. There was sausage, steak, but I ate grilled onions, lettuce, hard boiled eggs, rice mix which had peppers, raisins, and curry in it (tasted a little different), cucumbers, and then dessert--which was delicious little cakes--chocolate, coconut with raspberry jam, raisin square, and a spice cake with lemon icing.
After lunch, we all got to walk around the village--there were about 20-25 little buildings that made up a town--a dairy, blacksmith, farming tools, eye doctor, post office. medical equipment, printing room/cash register, odd-house, nursery, military shop---everything was very antique and neat to see.
Then we were off to return to the motel--I fell asleep on the trip there and back this time. I brought blankets and just snuggles under them for a nice nap. We had 2 hours before dinner so we just hung out, listening to music, and then got ready for dinner which was at the Golf Club. It was time to get dressed up and head out for dinner. The club was huge and we had our own room to ourselves. The dinner was phenomenal and the best meal I have had yet! We were served a huge roll as an appetizer and then corn on the cob, steamed carrots and peas, a peeled baked potato, and vegetarian lasagna---mmmmmm it was squash, spinach, noodles, cheese- what a colorful plate it was--delicious! Then dessert came----mmmm apple pie and ice cream!!! This dinner just kept getting better!
After dinner I decided to have game night in my cabin and had a bunch of students over to play three-way charades (two teams make up words and place in a bowl, then switch bowls-first round you can say anything to get your team to guess the word, second round---only acting it out, third round--only one word is allowed to be said). It was a lot of fun and really funny too! Then more students came and we played signals (everyone made up a signal for themselves and one person stands in the center--he/she has to try to find who has the signal as it get passed around--you pass the sign by doing someone elses sign and they have to see you and accept it by doing their sign and then continuing to pass it along). This game got really loud and obnoxious, but really fun! It was about midnight when the game wrapped up--we had to get up early. We talked a little before climbing into bed---I love this queen!!!
