Byron Bay day and night

Woke up and went for a outdoor circuit on the beach!! It was very hot and sunny and it was only 7:30AM!!! After my circuit, I ate a bowl a cereal with some raisins and a banana and then off to shower. Sweating is an understatement here I think---I am drenched!
Off to Byron Bay for the day and evening!!
I went down on the bus with the last group at 11:30AM, it took about 30 min to reach Byron Bay. Byron Bay is right off the Ocean had tons of little shops/restaurants/ice cream shops/bars. There was one main strip and many side streets.
To start the day off, I went down to the beach to see the groups surfing. All the students enjoyed the lessons, however, some of them got stung by jellyfish. I didn't want to surf because I don't like getting in that deep of water, but I do plan on Scuba diving. After coming back with some students, we walked around the town, ate lunch and got some ice cream! I had some Strawberries and Creme!! MMM it was delicious but melted so quickly! It was blazing hot today! And I was sunburn so that didn't help! The tops of my feet and my forearms are the worse so I covered myself in 80SPF today.
After ice cream we all met at the Hostel----a hostel is a dorm-like accommodation---5 people to a room, bunk beds, sheets and pillows, provided, communal bathroom. Only 18 students would be staying the night in order to dive tomorrow. The rest of us will Taxi it home.
After we got situated at the hostel we met at Sundive to meet with Julie (BSU grad who married the Surf Coach Jack) to go over dives and meeting times. Then we got ready to go out and headed to the Cheeky Monkey for the night---this is considered a Party Bar. Being at the hostel we were given free admission and free drinks for the first few hours so we went at 7PM. Not the best meal but I has some Chicken Schnitzel which is a crumbled, I think fried chicken with chips (fries) and a small salad for $5---best deal so far!
Cheeky Monkey plays some games during the night, spinning a fun wheel, loud cheering to win alcohol (our group won 6 pitchers), and this night was Ladies night so there was a male strip contest---and yes some of the students went and entered----quite entertaining to say the least!! Then it was time to get on the tables we just ate on and dance--this is custom for this place----we all enjoyed ourselves very much and danced a ton!!
I met three girls staying at the hostel as well, one girl from England (traveling on her own for 10 weeks for her Christmas break) and the other two from Scotland (just moved here and looking to work and live for the next year). They were such nice girls and we just chatted about things to do here and how beautiful of place this country is. They are brave girls leaving their home country with no exact plans in hopes of making a living--I don't think I could do that, but I give them a lot of credit for being such adventurers.

Since we started so early that day we left around 1AM and headed back to the hostel where the Maxi Taxi would pick us up. We made it to the cabins by 1:40AM all safe and sound. What a great night, now I need some sleep!
